Use Tin Cans to Make Lanterns

Use Tin Cans to Make Lanterns

Summer is here and it’s time for backyard parties and hanging out with family and friends. You’ll be the talk of the neighborhood with theses simple but snazzy tin can lanterns that will add some flair to your next gathering.

Supplies:

  • recycled tin cans
  • hammer
  • nail
  • bailing wire
  • pliers
  • spray paint
  • tea light candles

Once you’ve cleaned the tin cans and removed the labels, fill the cans with water and freeze them. (The ice will help with the next steps).

Using the nail and hammer, tap two holes in the top edge of the can directly across from each other. This will be where you’ll attach a wire handle to hang the lanterns. Next, tap out a design all around the can. You can use a template or just free hand it. Once you have your pattern completed, just flip the can over and wait for the ice to melt. If the bottom of the can bulges (from the ice) just tap it flat with the hammer.

For the final steps, please check out the original post. It is a great article worth reading.
