If there’s one DIY project that is sure to blow your kids’ minds, this has to be it! Creating glow in the dark jars at home–how cool is that?
What makes it even cooler is the fact that it’s very easy to make. No advanced DIY skills needed for this one! It takes only two minutes to make. It’s also very cheap–only 20 cents per piece.
The idea comes from Intimate Weddings, which tells us that this is ideal as decors for an outdoor night wedding. But of course, it’s also great to have in your home.
To make this, you’ll need some jars, glow sticks, and scissors. For safety reasons, you’re also advised to use safety glasses and rubber gloves. Better safe than sorry, right?
Glow sticks can be purchased in bookstores. A pack of 15 costs only $1.50. For the jars, you’ll probably find some in your kitchen cupboard.
Cut the glow sticks at one end. See to it that the jars are ready so they can catch the glowing liquid from the glow sticks when you cut them. Use rubber gloves in this step so you don’t get any liquid on your hands.
Shake the glow sticks until empty. Remove the little shards of glass. Swirl the liquid inside the jar to give it a glow. Test the jar by putting it a dark place, and see how well it glows. Very easy, isn’t it?
Make this project with your little ones but don’t let them do the project on their own. It’s better for an adult to make these glow in the dark jars and the kids to just watch while you make them.
They’re going to love these so much, they’ll probably ask you for more.
